Hyrule Warriors | Ganon

#4 – Ganon

Yes, I know people generally see Ganondorf as the guy Link goes toe-to-toe with, but I see no reason why the Zelda franchise’s big bad couldn’t be a character in his own right. The evil pigman has come in many shapes and sizes over the years, but, for Hyrule Warriors, I think it would be best for him to take on his more classic form from the earlier titles, specifically Link to the Past. With a much more reasonable size and a totally sweet trident, this iteration of would have the range and power to strike fear into the hearts of any soldiers who challenge him. With powerful magic to lay out groups of enemies, and sweeping attacks with his trident, Ganon would be a serious force on the battlefield.

Hyrule Warriors | Ruto

#3 – Princess Ruto

Much like Nabooru before her, Princess Ruto is another character from Ocarina of Time who didn’t directly assist Link is his battle against Ganondorf’s forces, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be equipped for a fight. I take inspiration for this chiefly from Link’s use of the Zora Mask. With a repertoire of acrobatic punching and kicking attacks, Ruto would use her razor-sharp fins to their full effect. Not only that, but the ability to detach her fins and throw them from a distance, or engulf herself in electricity would make her a danger at close or long range.

Hyrule Warriors | Sheik

#2 – Sheik

It really should come as no surprise that one of the most popular supporting characters in the entire franchise would make it so high the list. The young man who serves as Zelda’s alter ego in Ocarina of Time has a lot of different tricks that would work well in Hyrule Warriors. Like some others on this list, Sheik never directly fought to help Link’s cause, but there’s still inspiration to be drawn from other sources. I imagine Sheik either using a single dagger, as shown in this OoT art, or simply using fast and merciless punches and kicks like in the Smash Bros games. Players could also use the Sheikah’s trademark Deku Nut trick to quickly disappear, only to deal out death from another direction.
