Halfway There Goals $20,000 and Under Flexible Funding Goal Reached

INITIAL GOAL REACHED

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Cubicle Quest | oprainfall

Cubicle Quest

  • Goal: $475
  • Platform: Windows

From the Kickstarter page:

The Debt Alliance swept over the kingdom without warning. Suddenly Free Time Mountain and Hobby Oasis were lost, and the debt monsters were attacking the walls of Castle Sanity itself.

Cubicle Quest is a game about how life can suck. Dead end jobs, repetitive obligations, irritating coworkers… Cubicle Quest takes all of those things and turns them into enemies you can fight in an old-school RPG.

This isn’t a bunch of financial advice repackaged as a game, and it’s not going to hit you over the head with lectures. The enemy in the video is about as blunt as it gets: kill “Unpaid Bill” enemies fast, or they turn into nastier “Late Fee” enemies.Your skills and elements boil down to a few intuitive categories, so I think it makes for a fun RPG experience even if you don’t care about the financial foundation.

But at least part of the fun is the ability to take a character from deeply in debt to a more fulfilling life. In real life, even if you have things under control, your finances can move pretty slowly paycheck to paycheck and it can take years to attain some goals. Cubicle Quest packages the feelings of moving up in life into a fun gaming experience.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Perish | oprainfall

PERISH

  • Goal: $1,500
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux

From the Indiegogo page:

PERISH is a video game, an Action-RPG with permadeath & procedurally generated levels, also known as a roguelike-like.

The Combat is deadly and deliberate, inspired by Dark Souls. Block, dodge and manoeuvre to get a good opening to damage your opponent, while making sure not to give the enemy an opening yourself. Levels are randomly generated, and the structure of the game as a whole is similar to Spelunky. A full play-through should take about an hour, but is so difficult that you will likely need to play many times to become good enough to reach the end.

The randomly generated levels also contain specific unique items and encounters that can be relied on to always occur at a specific level or world every time. Learn the patterns behind the apparant randomness to uncover secrets and unlock new areas and content.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: Shiness | oprainfall

Shiness

  • Goal: $100,000
  • Platforms: Steam, Windows, Mac OS, Linux; PS4 and Xbox One ($140,000 stretch goal); Wii U ($170,000 stretch goal)

From the Kickstarter page:

A long time ago on a planet called Mahera, many species lived together in harmony. They were all linked by a spiritual energy, source of life and progress. This Energy was called the Shi.

As the civilizations were thriving, the Shi started dwindling which eventually led to a devastating war. The storm of violence unleashed by living beings became unstoppable. The green grass in the valleys was coated by ashes and the rain suddenly became a reminder of the horror suffered by the crying of a planet its own children were mistreating. The all-encompassing link the Shi was once able to maintain failed, hence causing the core of the planet – its heart – to collapse. Crackles appeared all around the globe and then, in a gigantic explosion, Mahera became a cloud of dirt and lighting bolts, enclaving each civilization to its own part of the globe: Meteora masses of land-floating nearby from one another, forever separated both physically and spiritually.

Since those dark times, Human, Sheiks and Waki rebuilt their lives separately and life went on.

He will travel through time, meet amazing/stupid/awful friends and villains, and fight monstrous foes while attempting to uncover the secrets of Water Falls High School.

LAST CALL FOR FUNDING: SUPERHOT | oprainfall

SUPERHOT

  • Goal: $100,000
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Steam

From the Kickstarter page:

SUPERHOT is a unique, stylized FPS game where the time moves only when you move. With this simple mechanic we’ve been able to create gameplay that’s not all about reflexes – the player’s main weapon is careful aiming and smart planning – while not compromising on the dynamic feeling of the game.

You’re not hiding behind cover – you’re dodging bullets flying past you like in The Matrix. You’re not waiting to reload a gun – you’re picking the next firearm from the hands of your fallen foes. You’re not waiting until your wounds heal – in SUPERHOT a single bullet means death. However, there are no reload screens – you’re instantly back in the middle of the action.

A playable prototype is available on the Kickstarter page.
