Sadly, all the Pre-E3 excitement cannot hide the despair that comes with this news. In an interview with famitsu.com, Final Fantasy series director Shinji Hashimoto has announced that the two highly anticipated Square Enix titles, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III, will not be shown at this year’s E3.

Shinji Hashimoto had this to say in the interview about the two titles’ presence at the press conference:

We are are working diligently on Kingdom Hearts 3, but I think releasing new information will still take some time. We included a small part regarding the story of Kingdom Hearts 3 In (sic) the new trailer [for] Kingdom Hearts 2.5 prepared for E3 2014, so please check that out.

Well, first I’d like to say that development for Final Fantasy XV is going well. Internally, we try to ascertain the best timing for revealing new information about Final Fantasy XV to the fans. So when we were going over our promotion plans, we judged that this year’s E3 would not be the best time to exhibit information about Final Fantasy XV. Instead we are currently planning to exhibit new information at events after E3 2014. I am extremely grateful to all the fans who excitedly anticipate Final Fantasy XV, and I’m looking forward to share new information when the timing is right. I would appreciate if fans hold out until then.

So it seems like we can still look forward to hearing more about the new Kingdom Hearts 2.5 which recently received a release date for Dec 2nd, but it would be nice to see something from the two unreleased games.

Maybe this will open the door some news regarding Type-0/Agito.

    • Thanatos2k

Hahahahha good one. Oh you were serious? I’m so sorry, expect more excuses or just pretending they don’t exist.

    • Eric

More wishful thinking than anything else. But if there’s no Final Fantasy XV, there will be Final Fantasy *something*. Most likely an HD remake of FF XII or VI. I can’t see Squeenix ignoring the series altogether.

    • mic

There will never be an HD remake of VI. They just gave it an ugly mobile port. The only remotely possible HD remake is VII, and it looks like that might never happen as well.

    • Eric

      *ahem*

    • Thanatos2k

      I stand corrected.

    • Eric

It’s all good. I’m still not sure I believe it.

    • Thanatos2k

They didn’t exactly announce a localization though. They announced it as a new game and they’re localizing that. The PSP still won’t have it available………

  • Goose

Nor will we see Last Guardian. It has entered development limbo.

    • Coarse

Pretty sure it’s already been there for a fourth of forever.

    • Justin Graham

Not even Sony could give a straight answer at E3 last year. It was either on hiatus or still under development. At this point, it’s hard for me to care either way.

    • azariosays

hey, if you look at my about me under the article you will see that i still believe haha

  • DigDugDude

Probably just holding off till Tokyo Game Show.

    • azariosays

that’s what i was thinking and don’t forget gamescom!

  • stealth20k

    how dissapointing

    • Justin Graham

      But not particularly surprising.

  • Lord Ackercocke

I’m fine with that. There will be plenty games to peruse at E3.

  • Steven Shemwell

So SE isn’t bringing anything remotely good to E3 wow they kinda suck now

    • Justin Graham

That they aren’t bringing these two games to E3 in particular doesn’t mean that they aren’t bringing anything worthwhile. It actually makes me more interested in seeing what else they have to show.

  • Thanatos2k

Nothing to show? Really, Square? You have nothing to show for a game you’ve been working on for over EIGHT YEARS?

Do you seriously expect us to believe FF15 is going to be anything but another FF13 train wreck?
