Gather around, everyone. I’ve got something incredible to tell you about.

Well, two incredible things.

Amplitude Concept - Last Call for Funding | oprainfall

The first is about Amplitude, the remake of the PS2 game that Harmonix was attempting to crowdfund. I brought it up last week as an example of a game that slips through the cracks of our guidelines of either being halfway funded, having a low goal, or having reached its initial goal. The game had a lofty $775,000 goal but only raised about a third of that with a week left.

This week, the project is funded. Harmonix got to work spreading the word about the campaign and was able to raise about $500,000 in a week. That’s unheard of for a project that appeared to be dead. Heck, I was working on an article about crowdfunding apathy, citing this campaign as one of the big failures of the year, before this happened. I guess I gotta revise that.

There’s still about an hour to go, but it’s pretty much done. Amplitude will be coming to PS3 and PS4 as a full remake.

So what’s the second thing? Something equally unexpected (to me). There are zero projects this week that fall under our Halfway There category. All projects listed this week either have a $20,000 or under goal, a flexible funding goal, or reached their initial goal. So, we’ll adjust things this week and start with the Flexible Funding projects.

Anyways, here is a list of crowdfunding projects that are in their last 10 days of fundraising. All titles link to their respective crowdfunding pages. And you can use the Quick Navigation to easily switch from page to page.

Flexible Funding Goals $20,000 and Under Goal Reached

FLEXIBLE FUNDING

BagChecker

  • Goal: $4,000
  • Platform: Mobile

From the Indiegogo page:

Have you ever been in the airport and heard over the intercom, “any unattended bags will be destroyed” and did you ever wonder what fun that would be to destroy a nice piece of luggage? Well, now is your chance to destroy a few virtual bags of your own!

The design for the game app was all the input from my 12 year old son Lukas. With his free flowing creative mind he kept on telling me, “Dad, wouldn’t it be cool if there was a fire hole to drop the bags for destruction, oh! yeah!, we need a dog sniffer, some sirens and bad things too to X-ray…” On and on it went like this until he sketched it out.

My son’s dream is to be a game developer. He lives and breaths apps of all kinds. This is his first go at the big time. Please help him make this happen so that he will be encouraged to develop more game ideas and continue to learn how to code (he is not at the stage yet where he can develop a game so advanced as this).

Your contribution is vital for this project to succeed. He has raised some of his own funds to contribute for the final quoted price from the developers, but with your help he will not have to walk the neighbors dog for the next 5 years to make this game a reality.

Iskandria

  • Goal: $1,000
  • Platform: PC

From the Indiegogo page:

This wargame is set in the same science fantasy setting as my novels. It’s currently a promotional website.

By June 7, 2014, I want to implement:

  • A proper guest demo mode, to allow trying out the game without a proper account. The first scenario in each of the three examples should be playable on or before June 7, 2014.
  • Two of these scenarios are space combat; one is intantry combat. The game is turn-based with planned moves.
  • A minimal “base command management” screen.
  • The non-playable factions need cameo pictures. The site itself needs a proper HTML design. Final-release artwork will not be attempted.

Pilot Tycoon - Last Call for Funding | oprainfall

Pilot Tycoon

  • Goal: $3,500
  • Platforms: iOS, Android, Windows Phone

From the Indiegogo page:

Pilot Tycoon is the new flight simulator adventure game for the mobile phone. Work your way to the top as a pilot by doing various story line missions in multiple pilot careers.

When i told other people about this game and the idea i sometimes heard ‘isn’t that just a Grand Theft Auto (Airplane) copy. Well I’m never gonna compare it in any way with that but it is what i actually miss with the current flight simulator games out there. Yes you will be able to buy properties and upgrade your airplanes, you will meet new contacts along your story missions and improve yourself being a pilot. This is definitely not a game where your only job is flying from A to B.

So its just one island? No you will be able to fly to different other areas and especially the military missions and airliners missions will take part in other areas. So does the space missions strange enough.

Jeff Neuenschwander
Jeff has been a supporter of the website and campaign since the beginning. Joining in for E3 2012, he worked his way up the ranks quickly, making it to the Editing Manager post at the beginning of 2013. Jeff has a wide variety of tastes when it comes to gaming and pretty much likes anything that is quirky, although his favorite genres are Action, Platforming, and RPG. Outside of gaming, Jeff is a musician, being trained as a trombonist for Jazz and Classical music, and holds a degree in Sound Recording.
