NERO looks to bring visual novels to next-gen gaming platforms

NERO, a curious indie title with an enchanting visual style, is headed to the Wii U eShop. The game is being described as a “next-generation visual novel” by Italian developer Storm in a Teacup. The story of the game is shrouded in mystery, with the game’s website offering the following description:

NERO is a wonderful journey in a world of incredible beauty where a kid is the key to all locks and the night is not as frightening as we all could think. NERO is about love. NERO is about faith. NERO is about feelings. NERO is about questions that need to be answered.

The game is set to take advantage of the Wii U Gamepad by displaying the UI exclusively on the controller’s touchscreen, allowing  for a clean interface on the TV. While the game is only confirmed for the Wii U, the developer’s website indicates that the game may also be coming to the Nintendo 3DS, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam. Storm in a Teacup is targeting a 2015 release date for the game.
