Star Parodier - PC Engine Cover | oprainfall

Star Parodier is a top-down, vertical scrolling, shoot ‘em up created by Hudson Soft in 1992 for Japan on the PC Engine CD-ROM (known as the TurboGrafx-CD in the West). Featuring Bomberman as the mascot, the game used cute graphics like ghosts and CDs instead of focusing primarily on sci-fi aesthetics such as lasers and missiles. The game did not receive a western release until 2008 when it came to the Wii Shop on Virtual Console. While the game was untranslated, gamers could still play the game without issue as there was hardly any text on the screen.

That is, until now anyway.

It is reported that Star Parodier has now been taken down from the North American Virtual Console. Nintendo has not given any information as to why nor are they likely to. Quite a few games have gone missing from the Wii shop for sometime including the Donkey Kong Country series, Yoshi’s Cookie, and SimCity without as much as an explanation.

This is a bit upsetting because, as not only would a heads-up have been nice, many people will only find out about this game for the first time due to its removal. However, if you live in Europe, you may be in luck as reports are saying that the game is not yet removed from the European Wii Shop.
