PS4 and Dual Shock 4 - Media Create | oprainfall

And as another week passes in the Media Create charts, the PlayStation 4 continues to drop and lose sales from its earlier debut. And as we wait for more games to release for the console, all we can do is watch to see where rock bottom is for this recently-released console. Meanwhile, the Vita finally shows that it can be a competitor with the 3DS. Now it just needs an Animal Crossing-like effort from any game, and it could really start making noise.

The only new game to release this week and make the Top 20 was Dark Souls II, which did two things. First, it gave a bump to the PlayStation 3 with its first place effort as the PS3 tries to get to 10 million lifetime sales in Japan. Second, it made the Xbox 360 relevant for a week.

Over on the Nintendo side of things, Yo-kai Watch continues to do well in its post-anime resurgence. Meanwhile, Kirby: Triple Deluxe breaks the 500,000 mark. It’s still on the outside of the Top 10 Kirby games in Japan, but it is the best-selling handheld game in the series since Squeak Squad on the Nintendo DS in 2006 (there was also the DS remake of Kirby’s Super Star that came two years after that, which became the third best selling Kirby game in Japan). The Wii’s Return to Dream Land has sold more than any other Kirby game in the past 5 years.

One final piece of news, and this one is rather interesting: a new game has appeared in the Top 20 that released last week BUT ended up outside of the Top 20 at the time. That would be Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Daimakyou – Peko to 5-nin no Tankentai, the latest game from the long-running comedy franchise Doraemon, which started with the manga series that ran from 1969 to 1996.
