Burden is the tactical tower defense game that was showcased at PAX Australia in 2013. Little else has been known about it since, but today we have good news! The game is coming soon to Steam Early Access. Mac and Linux versions are planned, but we have no further word on those. The PC version through Steam Early Access and other digital platforms can be yours later in 2014 for $15.00 ($20.00 for the full launch later.) We’ll keep you up to date with a firm release date as soon as we have it.

Mhoroa, a civilisation that was built on the exploitation of an ancient resource, is facing extinction. A handful of engineers discover the colossi; giant beast-like machines that were thought to be a myth. Obviously they aren’t a myth and must now be used to save the land. Just in case that doesn’t give you enough to do, your own people react in fear to the colossi and start attacking . Fend them off and then you can go about defending the land. Damn townspeople!

Burden is broken into chapters that each offer a journey on a different colossus. Players must withstand wave after wave of enemies and success depends on your strategy and management of the battle.

Charlotte Buckingham was lucky enough to get her hands on Burden at PAX Aus 2013 and you can see what she thought of the game here.
