This week’s Nintendo Download sees the release of Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U, as well as the final Guild01 game for the 3DS, WEAPON SHOP de OMASSE. Also of note is that, to celebrate next week’s release of Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, one game from each series will be 30% off until the 27th. Check out the details below!

Game descriptions are copied directly from the press release:

Nintendo eShop on Wii U:
Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze –
“In this adventure, the Kongs must reclaim their island from the dastardly Vikings of the northern seas. To do this, they need to set off on a journey around five different islands, plus the frozen Donkey Kong Island. This will be the first game in the series to be in HD, bringing glorious detail and expression to the world. Depending on the stage, you can swivel or move the camera around to view dynamic scenes while enjoying the rich gameplay. Along with Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong returns as a main character, while Cranky Kong is playable for the first time! Your abilities change depending on which partner you bring along, opening up new choices and possibilities. There’s even a cooperative two-player mode, with each player controlling one of the characters and working together to progress through the game!” This game will be available from February 21st for €49.99 (£39.99).

Virtual Console on Wii U:
Ice Hockey –
“Prepare to face-off for one of the most faithful sports simulations on the NES™. Ice Hockey offers straightforward fun to just jump in and play, either solo or against a friend, yet also requires tactical skills for players who want to fine-tune their team. You can customise each squad member, selecting from three different body types, affecting their offence and defence. Leaner players are faster and better in a face-off, while heavier players have stronger body checks and shooting skills. This is the US version of the game.” This game will cost €4.99 (£3.49).

Nintendo eShop on 3DS:
Weapon Shop de Omasse –
“From the mind of comedian Yoshiyuki Hirai comes WEAPON SHOP de OMASSE, a humorous twist on the classic fantasy adventure. You are Yuhan, an apprentice in a weapon rental shop inside an RPG. It’s your job to forge and rent weapons to the seven misfit heroes and various NPCs that come your way.” This game will cost €7.99 (£7.19).

Retro City Rampage: DX – “Rampage the open-world, steal cars and run missions — all while jumping on civilians for coins and outrunning the law with power-ups! This send-up to ’80s and ’90s video games and pop-culture includes both a full Story Mode of open-world adventure as well as an Arcade Mode for quick pick-up-and-play action. If that’s not enough, it also packs an interactive city full of shops, minigames, customisations, collectibles, special guest stars, and more.” This game will cost €8.99 (£7.99).

Kung Fu Rabbit – “Life in the temple of rabbits hangs by a thread. Universal Evil has struck again and kidnapped all of your disciples. Only you managed to escape. They let you live… they’ll soon regret it! Use your agility and combat skills to save your disciples! Jump from roof to roof, slide gracefully along walls, sneak up on your enemies, and rip  them to shreds!” This game will cost €4.99 (£4.49).

Bella Sara 2 – The Magic of Drasilmare – “Return to the universe of Bella Sara™ and set off to the Drasilmare Tree’s rescue! The great Magic Tree of Drasilmare has been cursed! Only you can remove the deadly curse and save the world of Bella Sara.” This is the free demo version of the game.

Virtual Console on 3DS:
Renegade –
Renegade was a highly influential benchmark in the beat ‘em up genre. Step into the shoes of a vigilante who must battle his way through subways, parks, alleyways and parking lots. You can even burn rubber on a motorcycle. Pick up items like a hamburger that restores life, a heart that increases your lives by one and an item that gives your bike a boost. You’ll need all the help you can get to take out the many street punks, killer kung-fu females, outlaw bikers and array of bosses standing in your way.” This game will cost €4.99 (£4.49).
