Shinji Hashimoto Mentions Possible Final Fantasy HD Remakes | oprainfall

Thank you, SGCafe, for this wonderful image!

During an interview with SGCafe, Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto and Motomu Toriyama mentioned how well Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster was selling in Japan. Previously only expressing an interest in making an HD re-release of Final Fantasy XII International, Hashimoto seemed to be more firm in his words, stating that, “At this moment, we do not have any plans [to release an HD-remastered version of Final Fantasy XII]. But as Kitase-san has mentioned, if there are a lot of requests from the fans for an HD-remastered version of Final Fantasy XII, we might consider it.”

This is exciting news, as the International version of Final Fantasy XII was better-received among the general public. Boasting a superior Zodiac Job Class System, which completely redefined the gameplay mechanics, and having some of the most gorgeous environments on the PlayStation 2, this definitely would be a title to get excited about and show your support for!

While the cries for Final Fantasy VII HD may not have yielded results, having the possibility of yet another HD remake brings us one game closer.

    • 35mm_Computer

With voice acting and singing, plz.

  • Raymond

Can we do an Operation HD remake of every final fantasy game ever?

  • GranteedEV

    Type-0 please

    • Eric

YES! Maybe we’ll actually get it then.

  • Pedro Rosas

    I want FFXII please

  • Talera Ristain

I’d buy a XII HD remake, especially a version the US didn’t get

    • Courtney Anne

I’m happy with any Final Fantasy remake! It just make’s me happy they’re getting proper attention :} I finished XII and I would definitely play it again, especially with a new job system!

  • chris

Meh I thought XII was the worst main series FF game by a mile. I know it would be a lot more work but I’d rather see them continue with the handheld remakes of the classic games and get to work on V and VI. Wouldn’t mind seeing a IX remake too

  • Lord Ackercocke

Give me a FFIX HD remake and i’ll worship the ground Square/Enix walks on.

  • Kamille

    when’s FF7 remake?

  • Thanatos2k

We don’t need more HD remakes Square. We need NEW games from you that DON’T SUCK.

Stop remaking and porting games you released a decade ago and make more games like Bravely Default. How about a new Chrono game? Mana game? TWEWY game? Final Fantasy Tactics? Where’s a new game from Tri-Ace?

    Wake the hell up!

And you people, why are you begging to play games you’ve already played and already own? You are part of this problem. “Oh, I’d kill for a FF9 remake!” WHY? Go play FF9 again. Why don’t you want a new game?

    • chris

Dude. Chill the hell out. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and there is not one person here saying they’d rather have a remake/port over a new game. But as long as they’re doing it is it a crime to want to see a game you like get the treatment. I do replay FF IX, but considering almost all the backgrounds are prerendered and the game’s native resolution is something like 320×240 it would be nice to be able to play the game and have it look halfway decent.

    • Thanatos2k

Look at the comments here. People are basically begging for FF7 remakes, FF9 remakes, FF12 rereleases.

Anyways, thank god Square knows not to do it:

    • Wildcardcorsair

The market exists whether you want it to or not for a number of reasons. If you think for a minute Square is going to do only one or the other you’re wrong. If you think for a minute that Square Enix isn’t going to do what it needs to make money you’re wrong. If you’re concerned with them continuing new and lesser known IP like Bravely Default the only thing you can really do is show your support by buying them. That’s the only “begging” Square Enix pays attention to anyways.

if this happens, I’ll PRE-ORDER it!!
