Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode

NOTE: This article is from the oprainfall Campaign Hub, written by an independent campaign, and hosted on the oprainfall website. The opinions herein may not represent the opinions of oprainfall.

Hello, everyone! It has been a lot of time since our last article. I am sorry about that, I’ve been very busy and I can’t give Operation Decode as much time as I would like to. But I wanted to write down a few lines and make a short summary about what has been going on lately, since some cool things did happen!

First of all, we passed 21.700 signatures from all over the world on our petition, which means we are even closer to our original main target (30.000). Thank you, to everyone who spread the word, and helped us reaching such an impressive amount of supporters in just 6 months!

Secondly, there is something very important I’d like to point out. Namco Bandai Games have officially acknowledged us: some of their PR and community managers from both European and American branch expressed an interest in our campaign by replying to our tweets or by sending emails in answer to some of our supporters.

Joseph Walsh, Bandai Namco Games EU PR
@OperationDecode @NamcoBandaiUK @Leearigold A LOT of love for Digimon. Interesting stuff.
Lee Kirton, Bandai Namco Games PR and marketing director
@OperationDecode @NamcoBandaiUK @namcogames @alexadjadj @Joukisan @JKartje @Gchantler @tony_Shoupinou Love the passion
Joseph Kartje, Bandai Namco Games US Community Manager
We have noticed your campaign and fully appreciate the community’s support of the Digimon franchise.
Isshak Gravi, Bandai Namco Games EU Community Manager
We’ve noticed the petition. Do your best to get that number higher!

We’d like to send them our thanks for answering our calls.

While none of their words actually mean that Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode will surely be localized, just having our existence recognized is a huge achievement: we are showing them that an audience for Digimon still exist in the West. So, even if the timing would not be good anymore for them to publish Decode (we hope not!), they may decide to give us a chance by localizing the newly announced PS Vita game, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, which is slated for 2015 in Japan.

Our hope is that Digimon will regain momentum outside Japan, in the near future, so let’s keep on showing them how much love Western countries still have for them! Remember to sign our petition , if you still have not done it, invite your friends interested in buying the game to do the same and tell them to spread the word in turn. Please also join our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter and Tumblr!

I will leave now with a little preview: in our next article, we will be giving some information about the storyline and the characters of Decode.

Thank you for reading and for everything you have done and will do to help our cause. Viva Digimon!

About OPERATIONDECODE

Our goal as a campaign is to convince Bandai Games to consider the localization of Digimon games in the West. At present, our main focus is on "Digimon World Re: Digitize Decode" for 3DS and "Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth" for PSVita. We initially started as a Twitter campaign, with the hashtag #OperationDecode, then opened an online petition on 12 July 2013. Our target is to reach the highest number of supporters possible, and to increase the awareness about these games.

  • Andrew Arndt

i signed it long ago 😀 come on people let mak that nummber grows to show the passion!

  • Vallen

    Signed. Hope it works

  • Pyrotek85

I was still hoping for the Digimon Adventure game too.

    • Renaldi Saputra

at least it had got a fan translation

    • Pyrotek85

Yeah, doesn’t look like it’s finished though.

  • Tyrannikos

Signed what feels like a generation ago now. Hoping we can get Decode and Cyber Sleuth. I’d love to get my hands on both.

  • surakian

I feel like if Bandai Namco is willing to localize Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day on PS3 for a PSN release, they could definitely localize this game as well. I’ve signed the petition way back when, but I’m definitely going to share it around.

  • Thanatos2k

I think it would have helped if the Digimon World 1->3 games weren’t so awful. I liked Digimon more than Pokemon back in the day, but as usual Bamco dropped the ball and let it roll away.

  • MMGM

Yup there’s still hope yet! I still really want Decoded to arrive on the 3DS outside of Japan, I wouldn’t even mind if it was a digital download only release. I still want Adventure and Cyber Sleuths too but I hope maybe a port will be made for the 3DS (again digital only is still fine). Lost Evolution and Super Xros Wars I still want in English but at the moment it seems more recent titles have a better localization chance.

  • Renaldi Saputra

    keep it up!!

  • jajb

    Senpai finally noticed me!

  • Megax Rocker

that’s some good news! i hope they localize both games in the near future

  • James Best

    Great news!

  • Vinicius

Hat digimon, but signed because I know it is to be denied a japanese game.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      why? it’s a great series

    • Vinicius

I liked the first season of the anime when I was a young, and played 2 games of the series, but I hated those games and as the years went on I completely lost interest, but I still support the fans of this game, they need to get it.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      oh, I can understand it..
well, digimon games (especially this one) aren’t recommended for casual gamers out there, so I can see why some many ppl hated it

    • Vinicius

By the way, you act like you know a lot about the Digimon games, do you think Digimon World 4(I saw it cheap and thinking of giving it a chance) is noob friendly to a guy that haven’t played a digimon game in 10 years?

    • Renaldi Saputra

Digimon World X A.K.A. World 4 is fun enough for me, it had a unique system comparing to other action rpg game. But, still, it might not suit for casual gamers if I can say, and rarely a not-digimon fan could enjoy it.

I can say that World 3 will suit you better

    • Eric Blondebeard

why can’t be every gamer like you? 😀 Support even though you dislike the franchise. Thats something i really appreciate 🙂 Lets get this spirit into every gamers heart and maybe even the console wars could finally stop 😀

    • RandomDBZFan

      You’re a very understanding person.

    • Tamer kudo

Not trying to fight you, since you’re being mature and I respect your opinion, but the anime was best at season 3,the manga was awesome, and the games are diverse and hit or miss, although mainline digimon world are just typical old jrpgs (beside the one we want localized which is supposed to be more modern)

    • Renaldi Saputra

I agree, season 3 isn’t your average kids show. It has the best character developments, most enjoyable character moments, most dramatic, most intelligent, and most complex and complicated problems and concepts unlike other series..

There’s simply almost nothing like Digimon Tamers out there

    • Tyler

I think seasons 1 – 3 were the greatest. When you understand Myotismon and what he actually represented… It gets pretty sweet. He is definitely not a character for kids lol. He kind of represents the devil, where venommyotismon is the digimon representation of the beast of Revelations from the bible that could only be stopped by the power of the angelic digimon. Then Malomyotismon’s cannons named Sodom and Gamorrah, in reference to malo being the digital incarnation of pure sin. It’s good stuff…

    • Renaldi Saputra

I don’t think so, vamdemon or its subspecies are cliche villains, they have poor motives, only world dominating. Just dark being evil, then the protagonist just have to destroy darkness and destroy evil. Simply like that, when in Digimon Tamers, there’re so much controversies between the god and master of creatures, difference between human and digimon, and much controversial things. I hate generic and cliche villains

  • luckgandor

I literally signed on day one, and I can’t believe it’s managed to come so far. Even a digital release would be much appreciated, as this is definitely one of the 3DS’ finest titles. Come on, Bamco!

  • Jose Coronado

Signed it just now, sorry i don’t keep up with the Change.org petitions, but would love to be able to play this game on the 3ds, the psp version is awesome too loved that game, but really hard to understand whats going on since its in japanese

  • Roronoa Zoro
  • RandomDBZFan

I really want Digimon World Re:Digitized Decode and Digimon Cybersleuth. I miss Digimon games and I really hope Namco Bandai hear our cries for more Digimon outside of Japan.

  • AvatarOfBagan

Digimon world 1 is my favorite of all digimon games to date for the feeling of raising a the classic D pet and being able to take it on a journey with you. I long to experience it again without using an emulator.

  • AvatarOfBagan

We just passed 24,000! Keep at it folks, keep spreading the word! lets try to get 25,000 by the end of the month!

  • Blake Smith

I truly hope this passes I have been a digimon fan since I was 5. I have all the English games and the first series of digimon on tape. Let’s try and convince more ppl to join our fight for digimon.

  • Thomas Marsula

I’m starting a petition for Digimon world 6 a new game that I want to help create. I’m still working out the kinks but I hope to have it up and running. If you guys want this decode can you really going to want the game I’ve been thinking about creating since Digimon world 4 came out.
