Who here doesn’t remember Spyro? While I never actually played any of the Spyro games myself, I definitely remember the commercials for the first PS1 game. For some reason, they went out of their way to portray the title character as a pyromaniac who preys on sheep. A little misleading? Probably. Entertaining? Definitely. So the Operation Rainfall Retro Commercial Research Team (in other words, me) present to you some of the first Spyro commercials in this week’s Retro Wrap-Up.

Here are the highlights of this past week.

Eric Chetkauskas reviews Catherine for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Conception II has received an M rating from the ESRB. Given the NSFW transformation sequences in the game, that’s hardly a surprise.

Hideki Kamiya wants to include Miis in a sequel to The Wonderful 101.

We’re holding the final round of our 2013 oprainfall Readers’ Game of the Year award. Go vote for the Game of the Year if you haven’t already.

Namco Bandai files a trademark for Little Tail Story.

The OpRainfall chatroom is back online. Let the insanity commence!

Nippon Ichi announces a new PS3 game. Its title is pretty long.

Josh Speer recaps the past week of Smash Bros. screenshots in this week’s Smashing Saturdays. I also talk about my experience with Mewtwo in this week’s Character of the Week installment.

Club Nintendo switches out its game rewards for the month of January.

Finally, Jonathan, Jared and Randy talk about what games they played over the holiday break, the latest Nintendo Direct and more in this week’s Downpour Podcast.

About Kyle Emch

Kyle has been studying music at college for about three years now. He's played the piano since he was 6 years old and has been recently been learning how to write music. He has followed the Operation Rainfall movement on Facebook since it started and was happy to volunteer for the website. Just don't mention Earthbound or the Mother franchise around him.
