Toki Tori 2

Earlier this morning, Two Tribes released a blog post stating that the development studio as you knew it is officially closing its doors. Nearly all of the developers that worked at Two Tribes B.V. are now gone, with the exception of its founders Martijn Reuvers and Collin van Ginkel. They explain part of this comes from values that the studio held onto after changing to an independent studio in 2009, as well as Toki Tori 2 taking too long to develop and having some underwhelming sales.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom! For one, Two Tribes Publishing isn’t going anywhere. This means all their old games, including the Toki Tori games, will still be available for you to purchase. Furthermore, a new development studio has been formed to continue making new titles. The team is much smaller and will focus on using tech they already have instead of trying to create brand new engines for their games. They even mentioned that their next game, a 2D side-scrolling shooter, will use the same engine that Toki Tori 2+ used.

We here at oprainfall like Two Tribes a lot. Our own Rose Weitz gave Toki Tori 2 a 4.5/5 in her review of the game. So we at oprainfall wish Martijn Reuvers and Collin van Ginkel all the best with their new studio and their future projects.
