Valve has released a new list of software applications that have been approved via the Steam Greenlight community. As with previously approved titles, the games and development software were chosen after reviewing various factors, such as crowdfunding success, awards, press reviews, and community interest.

One of the 50 titles that we’re keeping an eye on is Shadowgate, a crowdfunded remake of the 1987 classic point-and-click adventure game. The original game was ported to several different platforms, including the NES (which you can read our review of here).

From the Steam page:

“The last thing that you remember is standing before the wizard Lakmir as he gestured wildly and chanted in an archaic tongue. Now you find yourself staring at an entryway which lies at the edge of a forest.”

The remake promises a number of features, which include over 70 rooms to adventure through, an in-game hint system (in case the original was too hard for you), beautiful hi-resolution artwork, and two soundtrack modes (digital orchestra and NES). The Alpha should be coming soon, if it hasn’t already been sent to backers.

Here’s what else has been approved via Steam Greenlight:

About Jeff Neuenschwander

Jeff has been a supporter of the website and campaign since the beginning. Joining in for E3 2012, he worked his way up the ranks quickly, making it to the Editing Manager post at the beginning of 2013. Jeff has a wide variety of tastes when it comes to gaming and pretty much likes anything that is quirky, although his favorite genres are Action, Platforming, and RPG. Outside of gaming, Jeff is a musician, being trained as a trombonist for Jazz and Classical music, and holds a degree in Sound Recording.

I chipped in on Shadowgate’s Kickstarter. Can’t wait to play the game when it releases!

I’m honestly surprised it took them this long to approve MANOS: Hands of Fate when the AVGN game has been available on Steam for months now.
