Super Mario 3D World - Mario Kart Level | Media Create

You know that sales bump I was looking for in the Wii U when Super Mario 3D World released? Well, it appears that we had to wait a week for it. It wasn’t much–only a 7,000 increase–but it was enough to pass the Vita for the week.

A quick look at the Wii U Savior list as another release happens this week:

  • Sonic Lost W0rld
  • Wii Fit U
  • Wii Party U
  • Wii Sports Club
  • Super Mario 3D World – (Subject to change)
  • Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics (12/05)
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (February 2014)
  • Mario Kart 8 (April 2014)
  • Bayonetta 2 (2014)
  • X (2014)
  • Super Smash Bros. (2014)

Ah, the latest in the Mario & Sonic series. Given the history of this series in Japan, it should do a couple hundred thousand in its lifetime. Nothing Earth-shaking but it should give a little boost to sales.

God Eater 2 | Media Create

Over on the Vita, sales drop slightly but still hold above 20,000 with games like God Eater 2, Criminal Girls: Invitation, and Dynasty Warriors 8 with Xtreme Legends making the Media Create Top 20 for the system. Coming up next week will be the critically acclaimed Tearaway.

Not really much else to say about the charts this week. Nothing really stands out in sales nor hits a milestone. However, we should be getting close on a couple of things. Monster Hunter 4 is closing in on 3,000,000 sold in Japan and the 3DS is less than a 100,000 from 14,000,000 sold in Japan.

  • Bornt

In SM3DW sales: This game debuted at no. 20 in UK (and its first-week sales there are FAR LOWER than that in Japan), no. 5 in Norway and Germany (in the case of the latter, Xbox One game sales there dropped this week, so SM3DW overtook those sales), no. 9 in Finland, and no. 5 in Sweden. However, SM3DW failed to break even in France and Denmark, and failed to enter the top 10 in Australia and New Zealand, despite being no.1 in its platform.
OMG at Vita’s combined hardware and software sales (for top 20 games) overtaken by Wii U’s.
That power of Hatsune Miku, Pokémon XY sales bump, and the steep drop in sales of Lightning Returns, despite taking the no. 3 spot tat week.
