Monster Hunter Frontier G - Rathalos

A new trailer for Monster Hunter Frontier G has just been released. It showcases a whole bunch of monsters new to the game, as well as new twists to old ones. In the beginning of the trailer, I saw a Rathalos with pale blue spikes, as well as an Alatreon with bright yellow and black wings, amongst others. It also goes through each of the weapon classes and shows them in action.

Check it out for yourself here; it runs for nearly 10 minutes:

I have to say, I freaked out when I saw one of the hunters dodge left, right and then forward so quickly; either I’ve been dodging wrong this entire time, or they’ve made some changes here. And did I see the long sword hold on to the final move of its spirit combo before releasing it? There were a few other changes to weapons that I could see, especially in the hammer, which I use frequently. If nothing else, be sure to check out your own weapon to see what they’ve changed.

Monster Hunter Frontier G is currently out for PC, Wii U, PS3, PlayStation Vita and XBox 360 in Japan. There’s been no word yet on a Western release.

  • sakamoto-san

The dodging you saw was from a hunter in demon mode. Demon mode is exclusive to DS hunters.

    • Lightthrower

What about the spirit combo charge? That seems new.

    • Charlotte Buckingham

Ah, thanks. I don’t use DS and don’t know many people that do… And when I’m hunting I’m paying more attention to the monster than everyone else, haha.

  • An Tran

That’s…not an Alatreon. It’s a subspecies of something called a Rukodiora and it itself is called Rebidiora. They all just use the same body structure, which is probably why you mistaken it.

    • Charlotte Buckingham

Thanks for that. And yeah, it DOES look a lot like an Alatreon.

it looks ugly:( why’s MHO and MH4 already super cool and this aint

    • H

because this was released in 2007, its been 6+ years and has gone through 19 expansions.

MHO will never see the outside of china
MH4 was only released and we still have to wait about a year till that comes west and is currently only on 3ds.

Personally i would rather this to come to the west before mh4

    • Charlotte Buckingham

This isn’t MHO, this is MHFG, the original, Japanese version.

MHF has been out for 6 years and undergone numerous expansions. This game, MHFG, has been out for 6 months. They’re two different games.

    • Charlotte Buckingham

I don’t think it looks that bad at all! I really hope it makes it to the West!
