Toki Tori 2+

Those of you who were expecting to get the level editor for Toki Tori 2+ on the Wii U are going to be disappointed. After being in development for quite some time, Two Tribes has officially cancelled the level editor in a new blog post. Some of the reasons why include issues trying to adapt the PC-based editor for Wii U controls and trying to integrate Miiverse into the level editor. And, apparently, it just didn’t sell very well on the Wii U eShop. Martijn Reuvers of Two Tribes explains in greater detail.

Integrating a level editor and sharing is not something that we can easily do… So we asked ourselves: is this big update really worth the additional investment? A level editor is a nice feature, but it won’t appeal to the general audience. Unless, like Little Big Planet, the game is centered around user level sharing, a level editor will only be used by a small percentage of the people. Knowing this, we also figured that if we release a level editor, it won’t do much extra to the sales.  If that is the case, should we really invest in it or should we shift our focus and let our team chew on something totally new? When we weighed all the options, we unfortunately decided that it was the best option to move on and focus on a new game.

But before you start throwing full wine bottles at your computer screen, Two Tribes did offer a nice bit of compensation. If you own the Wii U version of Toki Tori 2+, you can receive a Steam key for the PC version of the game for free. Just go onto the Toki Tori 2+ Miiverse and reply to their post. Then email them at [email protected] with the subject “Wii U Steam Key” and include links to your Steam profile, your Miiverse profile and your Wii U region.

For more information on how to apply for a Steam key of the game, you can check out their blog post here.
