Attack on Titan

Hajime Isayama, the creator of Attack on Titan (sometimes better known as Shingeki no Kyojin or “Advancing Giants”), has said that he intends to finish the manga in 20 volumes. The 11th and most recent volume of Attack on Titan was published by Kodansha in Japan last month, meaning if Isayama sticks to his plan, the series is already half over. The English version of the seventh volume was published in the United States and Canada September 24, 2013.

Attack on Titan has gained insane popularity in both the East and the West. The series has sold over 20 million copies in Japan and has earned itself not only an ultra-popular anime adaptation, but several other spin-offs, including a 3DS game coming out in Japan this December. The series focuses on the life of Eren Yeager and his comrades in a bleak dystopian future. Humanity has been forced into cities surrounded by giant walls to protect themselves from Titans, colossal humanoid creatures who mindlessly devour humans. Eren and his peers seek to defeat the Titans in an attempt to protect humanity and take back the world they have lost.

If you’re looking to get into the series, the anime is streaming on both Crunchyroll and Hulu. If you’d prefer to read the manga, the English volumes are available from many places, including Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.co.uk. But if you want to get started with Attack on Titan, don’t wait! It sounds like the story’s conclusion may be coming sooner than we expected.
