Bravely Default: For the Sequel

Bravely Default: For the Sequel

Many have speculated that the recently announced expansion for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, handily dubbed Bravely Default: For the Sequel, was the version that would be coming to the West in 2014. Today, the official Bravely Default Twitter has most definitely clarified this sentiment for us all.

Bravely Default: For the Sequel IS the version headed West.

You really can’t get any more black-and-white than that without an official announcement from Nintendo or Square Enix. Anyway, here’s a brief refresher on some of the new features and improvements you can expect from Bravely Default: For the Sequel.

  • A completely overhauled battle system, built with the game’s sequel in mind
  • A user-interface overhaul featuring a number of improvements, like the fact that jobs and equippable items can be seen on the equip screen (they couldn’t before)
  • Battle speed has been increased dramatically from what it once was
  • Scenes that have already taken place can be viewed at any time during the game
  • There are now multiple save slots—by the way, your original Bravely Default save data is completely compatible with this new version, importers
  • Multiple language options (which further lends credence to the fact that this is the version the West is getting)
  • Characters who lacked “originality” have been given personality via an improved party chat system
  • And last, but not least, Chapters 7 and 8 have undergone some revisions

So, there you have it. Official word and more information will be headed your way as it comes. But for now, the game will release on December 5th in Japan. I still have no idea when it’s coming out in Europe, considering the financial document that had many reporting it had been delayed, then conflicting word as to whether or not it was being released this year. I suppose Europe can expect it…soon enough, probably this year. It will be released in North America in 2014.
