Ouch. Just… Ouch.

This is just an overall bad week for video game sales. Console sales, according to the Media Create charts, are down nearly 30%. Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin III – Pride of Justice, the top selling game this past week, opened with less than 40,000 units sold.

The Wonderful 101: Wonder-Red | Media Create

The most disappointing part of this is that The Wonderful 101, one of the games we’re looking forward to next month, opened with only 5,258 units sold. For comparison, this is the second worst showing for opening weekends of PG-developed games, surpassing only MadWorld (4,651). These numbers, coupled with missing the Top 20 for Europe this week, are troubling for not only fans of Platinum Games but people who want to see new IPs. It is especially surprising since the game has received praise from early reviewers with what seems to be only one outlier not liking the game.

So, if you want this game to succeed in North America, go out and pre-order the game. If you’re still on the fence about getting it, check out the trailers that were released a few weeks ago as well as the demo that is on the eShop. And if you have friends that don’t know about it but might like it, tell them about it, too.

As for the other games… Well, there really isn’t much to say. I’m a bit surprised that Chronicles of Mystara got a physical release in Japan. I’m glad to see Fantasy Life continues to sell. Nintendomination is still in effect… And that’s pretty much it. Hopefully, there will be more to talk about next week. And hopefully, we’ll see the stats get out of this funk they’re in.
