Rune Factory 4

Originally announced earlier this year along with a few other titles, Rune Factory 4, which is being localized by XSEED Games, was also said to have a release date around summer this year.  Time has passed and no word on a proper release date has been stated, and it seems a few unexpected speed bumps have put a stop to that original plan. Recently, a fan inquired on XSEED’s Facebook page on the status of the game, to which an employee responded:

And we’re dying to get it to you, but the game is absolutely massive and taking much longer to QA (play through the English for quality assurance) than we originally anticipated. Right now we could be looking at a late September or October release, but it will definitely be worth the wait.

Not too surprising. After all, while “summer 2013” is technically a release date, it isn’t too specific. Everything you see from websites like GameStopicon, Amazon.com, and Amazon.ca are just placeholders, not official dates the publisher specified, so I wouldn’t call it a delay, either. Given the company’s past, it comes as no surprise that the game needed a little more fine tuning in their localization effort on something so big, and wanting to announce release dates they’re absolutely sure on.

So, I appreciate their honesty. It shouldn’t be too long before we get our hands on what looks to be another great addition to the Rune Factory franchise.
