Ace Combat Infinity

It wasn’t long ago that Namco Bandai had released a teaser picture with the the Project Ace’s logo, leading many to wonder if the series was going back to its roots. Today, a new teaser trailer for the now-named Ace Combat Infinity has been released, but oddly, it has led to even more questions than before.

Titled “the day our sky fell…”, the teaser starts with a girl humming a small tune, only for it to be cut short as a large asteroid hurtles towards a planet, apparently shattering into many fragments before the bulk of the space debris smashes into what looks like the North American region. This asteroid collision with the planet is definitely reminiscent of the Ulysses 1994XF04 Asteroid hitting the old fictional world of Strangereal, the setting most of the original Ace Combat games took place in prior to Ace Combat: Assault Horizon.

However, while many might think that the teaser was showcasing the Ulysses 1994XF04 Asteroid from the original, there are also hints that maybe Ace Combat Infinity doesn’t take place on Strangereal. The biggest evidence is the layout of this mysterious world itself, as the continents of the planet are identical to real world we live in.

Also, since the teaser was very short and didn’t depict much information, fans of the Ace Combat series are still questioning what Ace Combat Infinity is going to entail. Are we looking at a possible remake of the original? Maybe Namco Bandai is bringing Ace Combat back to Strangereal in a sequel, but simply changing that world’s structure to match our own? As of now, we will just have to wait for more information about Ace Combat Infinity as it comes in.

Ace Combat Infiity is going to be a PS3 exclusive, but no release date has been given.
