The Wii U sees a boost in this week’s Media Create charts as two new products make the Top 5. Pikmin 3, the long awaited next installment of the Pikmin series, released in first place with 92,720 units sold, a good number for the fledgling console. In addition to Pikmin 3, the physical version of New Super Luigi U took the fifth spot with 24,881 units sold. It’s fair to say that this number is probably lower than it could be since it came out before as a DLC add-on for New Super Mario Bros. U.

With the two new games, Wii U sales jumped 270% from last week. This brings the total lifetime sales of the Wii U in Japan to 990,738 units sold. The Wii U is now within striking distance of the one million mark in Japan, a figure that should be attained in next week’s charts.

For the rest of the Top 5: Level 5’s Youkai Watch debuts at 2nd on the list with 53,654 units sold. Last week’s number 1, Earth Defense Force 2025, experienced a drop of 76% with 37,024 units sold, good enough for 3rd. And Tomodachi Collection: New Life appears to be starting to hit the saturation point as the million seller pushes 26,065 units sold for 4th.

Elsewhere on the list, Toukiden continues to do well, with both PSP and Vita versions combining for over 300,000 units sold. The Vita version of the game will be coming to the West later this year. Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl held on with 5,870 for 18th. The game will release in North America on October 1st. Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky came in 20th this week with 5,031 sold. No word about a localization yet.

Danganronpa | Media Create

Finally, I’ve figured out what’s going on with Danganronpa. If you read our article last week, you would’ve seen that the PSP The Best version of Danganronpa made a sudden appearance on the list. As it turns out, this sudden interest in the game stems from a new manga and anime beginning this month. So there you have it: the reason why this little selling game from two years ago has suddenly appeared.
