Infinity Blade: Dungeons

Infinity Blade: Dungeons for iOS has now been officially cancelled, as an Epic Games podcast confirmed the title’s postmortem situation.

Being developed by Impossible Studios, many expected the title’s unfortunate fate when their publisher, Epic Games, closed up shop back in February.  Originally, however, Infinity Blade: Dungeons‘ cancellation might of been over-exaggerated, as Epic’s founder, Tim Sweeney, told reporters that the title was simply on hold after Impossible Studios was shut down.

Now, it seems that report was fabricated by Epic, as Chair Entertainment chief Donald Mustard spoke in the podcast that the game was cancelled the moment Impossible Studios was closed:

“There’s not much I can say since Dungeons was not a game we were actually working on here at Chair. It was a concept that originated from Epic, and was an idea we were happy to support. But when the studio that was working on [Dungeons] was closed, the game was cancelled. That’s really all I can say.”

Mustard did, however, reassure fans that the Infinity Blade universe was still going strong, as more games, books and other products were still going to be developed.

Originally planned to use the Unreal Engine 3, Infinity Blade: Dungeons was to be a spin-off of the main touchscreen sword fighting series planned for release on iOS later this year.
