Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus Logo

For the last few days, Sony had been teasing something on their Facebook page, posting a new pictures as days go by. What was supposed to be announced today was announced prematurely yesterday as someone at Sony got a bit trigger happy and accidentally leaked it, which made Sony drop the news sooner. The surprise was a new Ratchet & Clank title was in development, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus for the PlayStation 3 and would be aiming for a holiday release.

What makes this special is not the fact it’s not just a new Ratchet & Clank game, but the fact that unlike the past few installments, this will be striding to be a “story-driven” single-player experience like past games. Then there’s the trailer, demonstrating Insomniac has still got it when it comes to platforming, and the good ole humor that the series is known for. Check out the trailer below.

We’re excited to announce that Ratchet and Clank are returning this year with an all new original single-player epilogue to the Future games. Under the creative direction of Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time creative director Brian Allgeier, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus is a story-driven platform adventure, with the humor and heart that make the franchise so beloved.

As you can see from the trailer, Into the Nexus has a bunch of crazy new weapons and gadgets. Gravity is one of the themes of Into the Nexus: you’ll experience zero-g space, you’ll use gravity-defying new gadgets, and you’ll manipulate gravity to solve brand new Clank puzzles.

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 3, releasing in-stores and on the PlayStation network at $29.99. They promised that the game will be their “biggest downloadable Ratchet & Clank game yet” eclipsing the size of both Quest For Booty and Full Frontal Assault. As a Ratchet & Clank fan myself, I’m quite stoked, what do you all think of the news?
