It seems like we’ve been doing a number of games recently on the Crowdfunding Spotlight that have been throwbacks to classic games. There was A Hat in Time paying homage to N64 platformers. Then, there’s Soul Saga showing its heart comes from classic PlayStation JRPGs. Yesterday, we had Aeterno Blade and its time mechanic inspired by Prince of Persia. Today, we have a graphic adventure game inspired by the classic game Snatcher and the more recent Ace Attorney series: Harvest.

It’s the future. A chemical war has taken place, leaving 99% of the world’s population unable to reproduce. Those who can are beginning to mysteriously disappear. It is your job as a detective on the mean streets of Detroit to find out what’s going on and save humanity from extinction.

Harvest

GondeFire Productions, the team behind Harvest, is no stranger to the Kickstarter scene, as they used it last year to fund their point-and-click adventure Castle Dracula. This time around, they’re seeking funds for this sci-fi thriller “to hire more developers, work with animation, produce the soundtrack, and provide a huge cast of voice actors.”

Harvest

The team has already produced some wonderfully painted high-resolution artwork, which you can see throughout this article. There has also been work done on coding and writing the script. In addition, composer Rich Douglas (Shadowgate, Stan Lee’s Verticus, Lifeless Planet, and Castle Dracula) will be providing a haunting soundtrack to the game. You can check out a sample of his work by going to the Harvest Kickstarter page, visiting Douglas’ Bandcamp site, or by listening to the trailer up top.

Harvest

The team is looking for $10,000 (USD). With only a couple of days left, they’re within striking distance at around $9,200. There are also stretch goals for an FMV intro ($11,000), support for Wii U and PSN ($13,500), additional content with a female protagonist ($15,000), and translation into Spanish, French and German ($20,000).

Rewards start at $5, which will get you a wallpaper pack and a spot in Harvest’s Special Thanks section of the credits. Pre-orders for the game start at $20. Other rewards include the soundtrack ($10), assisting in the beta ($30), a limited edition physical copy ($50), a special Harvest Kickstarter t-shirt ($75), and a poster for the game ($100). Limited rewards include a signed Harvest Limited Edition art book ($150, 23 left as of this writing), having your likeness and name in the game ($200, 21 left), a piece of music written specifically for you by Rich Douglas ($200, 3 left), a signed script ($350, 5 left), and Executive Producer credits ($1,000, 3 left).

Harvest

Being from Metro Detroit myself, I’m personally interested in how the developers (also from Metro Detroit) will create the city I have the ultimate love/hate relationship with. I wish the team well and hope to see it succeed.

If you’re interested in helping out Harvest, head on over to their Kickstarter page. Harvest is currently being developed for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.
