It has been confirmed that the oh so wonderful art of tripping will not make an appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games for the Wii U and 3DS. Through a translator, Masahiro Sakurai confirmed this without a doubt by stating, “To answer quite frankly, it will not return”.

Most people, including myself, are rejoicing at the removal of tripping. While this seems to be the general consensus so far, are there any players out there who are shedding a tear for the move?

Earlier this week at E3 a new trailer which can be viewed below, was released for both 3DS and Wii U Super Smash Bros. games. Several new characters such as the Villager from Animal Crossing, Mega Man, and the Wii Fit trainer were revealed as well and can be seen here and here.

Both Super Smash Bros. games have been announced for a 2014 release.
