Mega Man 6

It’s been a very unusual day in the life of Capcom’s famous game mascot, Mega Man (known as Rockman in Japan). After being put in the vault for years, Capcom has released the Blue Bomber to make a cameo appearance in Nintendo’s newest Super Smash Bros. fighting game. However, this isn’t the only appearance Mega Man is making today, as Mega Man 6 finds itself available on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Europe today.

Either on purpose or simple coincidence, this Mega Man title was originally supposed to be released this Thursday in the region, but seems to have been released early in celebration of the ‘Mega Man Special’ currently featured on Nintendo’s online store.

Mega Man made a big splash today at Nintendo’s E3 Direct broadcast, when we found out, in a spectacular showing, that he was officially part of the Super Smash Bros. roster for the franchise’s 3DS/Wii U installment. For Europeans, this downloadable eShop release of Mega Man 6 is quite special for another reason: this will be the first time that Mega Man 6 has ever made its way to European shores.

Mega Man 6 can be downloaded from the European Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console now for £4.49/€4.99.
