Yoshi's New Island | oprainfall

Following the slew of Nintendo games from this morning’s Nintendo E3 Direct, a new trailer for the new Yoshi title, Yoshi’s New Island has been posted. This is another game absent in Nintendo’s E3 Direct showing, but that doesn’t stop the game from being noticed at all.

Here’s the trailer:

Last unveiled in April’s Nintendo Direct, this is another entry in the Yoshi’s Island series, and a very fine-looking one at that. The game continues Yoshi’s adventure in watching Baby Mario on his back, whilst scaling obstacles and thwarting Shy Guys and other enemies by jumping, swallowing, and throwing eggs. When confronting a giant Shy Guy, Yoshi can swallow him whole and lay a gigantic egg that can demolish stage objects, and create devastating results. As we see the Magikoopa Kamek return in this game, it can be implied that Baby Bowser will return, as well.

While continuing its visual trend of storybook illustrations and vibrant color palettes, Yoshi’s New Island integrates some of the finer artistic details from the earlier titles. In motion, the game incorporates the look of Yoshi’s Story, while the aesthetics from the level designs are reminiscent of Yoshi’s Island. It looks like a marriage between both games, which will surely delight the eyes of many fans.

The game is slated to release this holiday season.
