Club Nintendo USA has released four classic games for purchase from now until June 30th, 2013. The games available are:

Super Mario Bros 3 on Club Nintendo USA | OpRainfall

Super Mario Bros. 3 (Wii Virtual Console) -150 Coins
One of the quintessential games to anyone’s gaming career! Don that Tanooki Suit and jump through all eight vibrant platform levels!

F-Zero X on Club Nintendo USA | OpRainfall

F-Zero X (Wii Virtual Console) – 200 Coins
Get together with up to four friends and play one of the deadliest, fastest racing games. With several different modes and dozens of different hover cars and racers, it will not disappoint.

Link 'n Launch on Club Nintendo USA | OpRainfall

Link ‘n Launch (DSiWare for 3DS) – 150 Coins
From the creators of Fire Emblem, play all the puzzles you can imagine. The easy gameplay will get you hooked, but the difficulty to master will keep you coming back for more.

Metroid II on Club Nintendo USA | OpRainfall

Metroid II: Return of Samus (3DS virtual Console) – 150 Coins
A beauty from the side-scrolling era, Metroid II is a great classic. Full of dungeons, power-ups and fantastic weapons, fans are rewarded for their gameplay with multiple endings.

The selected games provide a good variety of genres as well as the platforms; so if you haven’t upgraded to the 3DS yet, you’re still in luck!

I have a lot of retro gaming to catch up on, and I think I will start with Metroid II: Return of Samus. Although…I am a few coins short, any spare ones laying around?

Woo hoo!! Love Metroid II! I was probably never going to spend “real” money on a game I already own, but CN coins is the perfect excuse to snag it for 3DS!! ^_^

  • smacd

I’d grab Metroid 2, but honestly 150 gold coins? I’d rather spend the real money. I think I’d like to hold on to what I have and see if something more exclusive comes along in the next year before my current coins expire.

      I don’t think coins expire…do they?

    • smacd

According to the club nintendo FAQs:

      Do Coins Expire?

      Answer:

Yes. Unredeemed Coins expire after 2 Club Nintendo years (July 1-June 30). When logged in, you can view your Coin Balance with the account information at the top of the page. See Terms and Conditions for more information.

      Welp, I’m boned O_o;;;

  • I owned Super Mario Bros. 3 on my Wii, so I’ll get a discount on it when they finally release it for everyone.

Curiously the one that I may be willing to shed some of my hard earned member coins for is F-Zero X.

Nintendo has made no real solid plans on N64 VC, so seeing it as an option has me really curious. I really wish they’d HD their N64 releases just for the sake of presentation. Similar to how Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie were given a HD touch up for the 360.

Some of the choices are worth dropping the 200 coins on, but some you’re better off just waiting a bit until you add some money to your eShop account and getting them then.

…..why is super mario brothers 3 on the wii…..why not on the 3ds….it would make me a lot more happy that way

Nothing that really interests me that I don’t already have this month.
