Fable 01

It has been a stagnant few years for the Xbox 360, as Microsoft looks to be putting their full concentration on their next generation system, the Xbox One. While Xbox 360 fans may feel left out in the cold, Lionhead Studios shows us that there are still developers who have not given up on the old console just yet. Earlier today, Lionhead Studios has announced Fable Anniversary, an HD remake of the original Fable game.

Fable Anniversary

Described as being a complete overall of the original title, Lionhead’s Ted Timminis gave a rundown on just what we will see in the HD remake of this classic title. Some changes like an improved UI, faster loading times, and tighter controls are just the tip of the iceberg.

When it comes to graphics, Timminis tells us that it will look “absolutely incredible”  and how “the whole thing has been redone.” Fable Anniversary will now be at 1080p, with improved textures, a new lighting system, and new facial animations and cut-scenes.

Other changes include a new save system, which is described as similar to check-pointing.  Timminis also assures fans that Fable Anniversary will have the all of the content from the expanded version, Fable: The Lost Chapters, released for PC.

Fable Anniversary 2

In a separate announcement, Timminis described the new achievements that will be making their way into Fable Anniversary. “We’re doing something that’s not been done before,” Timminis said, “Fable has always been about choices and consequences, so we’re trying to put that into our Achievements.”

Fable Anniversary will apparently also have SmartGlass integration, which allows players to call up a map of the world and take screenshots using a second touch-screen device. SmartGlass may be used to play pub styled mini-games in the HD remake, but Timminis doesn’t go further into details on the subject.

There will, however, be one thing that Fable Anniversary will not have that the original lacked as well, and that being mulitplayer.

Fable Anniversary will be published for the Xbox 360, but no date has been officially announced. Timminis however, does assure fans that “It will be coming out in holiday this year,” and whose exact date will be announced relatively soon. Though too hard to tell just yet,  This HD remake may just have long time fans of the Fable series want to return and experience the humble beginnings of Albion one more time.

Fable Anniversary was teased in a trailer just before Timminis officially announced the title. This trailer features the character of Jack of Blades, the main villain of the original Fable title. You can watch the trailer at your own leisure below.
