Two Tribes has found an awesome way to thank the Steam community for their help with the development of Toki Tori 2. Two Tribes announced that Steam will see an updated release of Toki Tori 2 on July 2nd with so many new features that the title will be changed to Toki Tori 2+. Two Tribes announced that they are extremely grateful to the Steam community for supporting them with “countless feedback reports, play-through sessions and a lot of testing” and are excited to finally be bringing the thus-far Wii U exclusive platform puzzler to PC and Mac via Steam.
Two Tribes took into consideration tons of community feedback about how to improve the game. Many of these small improvements have gone out in updates for the Wii U, but they saved the big stuff for the upcoming Steam release. One of the major updates will be some additions to help new players get started, including a new mechanic to guide players through the early part of the game, gates to ensure the player can reach their destination efficiently, an updated world map, and a more polished presentation. Two Tribes hope that all of these new features will make the game more accessible in the beginning. If you already have the game on Wii U don’t fret! Two Tribes promises to “update the Wii U version with the Steam version changes that make sense on the platform,” including the level editor.
The most exciting feature of the Steam release however will be the level editor. This addition will allow you to create your own levels and share them via Steam Workshop. In addition to the level editor and improved presentation, Toki Tori 2+ will also add new puzzles and 30+ achievements. And naturally, since Two Tribes is based out of the Netherlands, they’re pretty darn excited to announce the addition of windmills!
Although Toki Tori 2+ won’t be released until July 2nd, there are lots of ways to experience the game in the mean time. The original Toki Tori 2 is currently available on the Wii U, and you can check out our review of the game. Additionally, if you’re lacking a Wii U the remake of the first Toki Tori is widely available on the Wii and Steam as well as several other platforms.
