Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition | oprainfall

Earlier today, an update to WayForward’s Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition went live on the Wii U.  In fact, those that have the latest system firmware may have already downloaded the update.  While light on new features, the patch contains a number of improvements to the game that fans should find welcome:

  • The game has been optimized to require less hard drive space, dropping from 528MB to 360MB.
  • The game can now be played with protagonist Patty Wagon redrawn as “Pixel Patty.”
  • All of the game’s audio has been adjusted and is now quieter.
  • The game now supports headphones plugged into the Wii U GamePad.

The news of the rebalanced audio is a major plus.  From my own experience, prior to this update, the game’s default volume was blaringly loud even at moderate TV volume settings.  Not the sort of surprise that’s welcome when starting the game up at 10 p.m. in a condo with thin walls.  But smaller, quieter, and pixelier, Mighty Switch Force! is an even better recommendation on the Wii U.
