Getting the first four Sakura Wars games published in English won’t be an easy task. That being said, all hope is certainly not lost.
The Kiss Me Sweet community is hard at work on a massive undertaking. It’s one that a few groups have tried in the past, but due to time restraints and other limitations, they’ve unfortunately fallen flat. This time, however, all of the individuals involved are confident in the success of this goal, which is to show off fully-translated playthroughs of the untranslated Sakura Wars games.
Although there is no full English patch available at the moment, dedicated member Patrick T. Gardner (aka Kori-Maru, admin of The Website of the Dead) is hard at work on a translated playthrough of the first game on our group’s YouTube channel, Sakura Wars English. This is done with the assistance of both fellow members and outside translators; Patrick plays the game, gets the translation from others, then edits in the English text over the source Japanese dialogue.
It’s a long and difficult process, but one that involved members have stuck with faithfully. So far, there’s only stuff from the first game up, but the team hopes to playthrough the remainder of them over time. This will be especially true if interest continues to pick up for the campaign to get the games localized.
If you’re curious about watching the games in a language that’s a bit more, erm, close to home, then check it out!
