Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another Monday, and another episode of The Downpour Podcast!

This week, Jeff joins the show to talk of his musings, and to make more predictions regarding the Year of 3DS/RPGs/Awesome. The show opens with a discussion about several games the hosts aren’t entirely familiar with (some may be surprised by what those games are), then there’s plenty of talk about what they’ve been playing. Jonathan bought an amazing game from the not-too-distant past, Jared was enriched by playing through a large number of Sonic games, and Randy’s been playing…oh yeah, that game…Pandora’s Tower.

After the usual talk, the show takes a moment to discuss gaming backlogs. What are some games you’ve never gotten around to playing/beating? We’d love to hear your thoughts, so be sure to share. Between talk of the present, games of the past, and predictions for the future—this week’s show offers quite a bit. Also—spoiler alert, but Randy & Jared love Attack on Titan.

We always appreciate your feedback! Be sure to comment on this post, or you can send an email to downpourpodcast@oprainfall.com.

I actually got my sales numbers wrong for main series Dragon Quest games. It’s actually 3 million+ in Japan per game starting with DQ3, with the only exceptions since being DQ5 and DQ10

    • smacd

Its actually kind of shocking that DQ5 was one of the lowest selling in the series (DQ3-10 at least), considering that its considered to have one of the best stories. At least here in the west.

    • Jeff Neuenschwander

Comparatively speaking, it does seem a bit odd.

Here’s another interesting stat regarding DQ5: the top 2 best selling remakes for Dragon Quest games in Japan are both DQ5 (for PS2 and the DS).

Dragon’s Crown seems really cool. I loved Odin Sphere and they’re both developed by Vanilaware… Looking forward to it myself. Also, that controversy is stupid because there are tons of ripped abs and stuff in the game as well.

I’m with Randy… I read about the game and thought the insanity meter sounds awesome, but I can’t deal with horror games. Just no.

I say a win on the BD:FF prediction. A localisation for Europe is still is a localisation for the West.

PLAY OKAMI DAMMIT, THAT WAS MY ORIGINS PIECE
    /a month too late

Also, Fernandes and Lord Baltimore has a pretty extensive backlog as well.

Probably shouldn’t tell the Allanson brothers that the OTHER Head Editor hasn’t played FF:VII either…
