From the recent episode of Hideoblog, a web radio show hosted by Konami, Hideo Kojima talked about the Zone of the Enders series with concern for the HD re-release, and how it will have an effect on the long-awaited sequel. Knowing his mischievous personality, he begins the show by assuming his bandaged persona of Moby Dick Studio’s Joakim N. Mogren.

Upon reading fan feedback in regards to the series, especially by those who were fans from the Playstation 2 era, he stated that the Zone of the Enders HD Collection did not exactly live up the expectations of the fans, for which he apologized deeply. The transition to 60 frames-per-second was detrimental to the gameplay, as it felt choppy from the smooth and seamless action that the series was known for.

To address this, Kojima and his team re-programmed the entire game under the belief that action-heavy titles such as Zone of the Enders deserve the smoothest flow of gameplay to be enjoyed. There will be a free patch for the Playstation 3 version that will greatly enhance the overall experience; there has been no word for the Xbox 360 version as of yet.

Due to Kojima and his team fixing the problems for the HD Collection, the Zone of the Enders sequel has been brought to a halt. In addition, Kojima had dismantled his team so he can re-evaluate the direction of the franchise before moving forward. In addition, he seeks to re-evaluate with his own fans to see if they want to see another Zone of the Enders.
