Darksiders II Wii U

European gamers who want to get their hands on a digital copy of Darksiders II for the Wii U will only have a few days to do so. On March 31, 2013, the game will be removed from the European Wii U eShop.

For those of you who are interested in a digital copy of the game, now is the time to make the purchase. Players who have already purchased the game are said to able to download it at any time. So even if you can not get the game downloaded ASAP, you can still purchase it now and download it at your convenience.

Key Features of Darksiders II:

  • Play Death – Become the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen, able to destroy entire worlds and battle forces beyond Heaven or Hell.
  • Epic Universe – Unlike anything the player has seen before, delivered in the unique style of Joe Mad.
  • Player Choice & Customization – Thousands of weapon and armor items, three diverse specializations, along with customizable Harbinger & Necromancer Skill Trees allow players to create their own Death.
  • Replay-ability – Side quests, vast open world, endless equipment combinations, Skill Tree customization and leveling system offer compelling reasons to play through Darksiders II again and again.
  • Traversal – Death is a nimble and agile character capable of incredible acrobatic feats allowing the player to explore the world like never before.
  • Unique Wii U GamePad Functionality – Play Darksiders II like never before using the Wii U GamePad screen to instantly access inventory and abilities.

It is unclear right now if the game will remain on the North American eShop or be taken down. Realistically, it could disappear from the eShop on Monday in North America as well. We will keep you updated as further details are announced.

What's up everyone? Crystal here! I spend my time writing up the news for you all and keeping us all up to date with incoming game info from Japan. I do a little bit of everything else around here, too. 🙂 Happy Reading!

  • Not surprising, given THQ’s current status of non-existence.

  • why would they do that? If it’s linked to Darksiders not having found a new owner the physical should be disposed off as well.

    • Physical copies still on store shelves can be sold, but the game can no longer be manufactured, so quantities are now limited. The game is being pulled from digital retailers because it doesn’t have that “problem.”

  • Why would they do that? It doesn’t make much sense to me. But, since I’ve decided to buy games physically after realizing how expensive external hard drives are, it doesn’t really affect me.

    • As I previously said, it’s because THQ as an entity is no more. The rights to Darksiders are in limbo. It wouldn’t surprise me if the game eventually gets pulled from every service until a publisher buys the rights.

    • I’ve read that Crytek is planning on buying Darksiders.

    • Only that they’re thinking about it. They haven’t pulled the trigger yet. And until the IP is sold, the game likely won’t be on sale.

A bunch of THQ games have been pulled from XBL and PSN already over the past few weeks. The difference is that Nintendo announced it.

Another instance of Nintendo being put in a negative light for trying to to something positive They gave fans a warning so they have a last chance to buy the game and instead are made out to look like Satan while Microsoft and Sony pulled over a dozen titles without a bit of warning (as usual) and no one says a word.

  • Apparently THQ games are also getting pulled from the EU PSN as well, so it looks like all services are being affected.
