Mother 2

Mother 2 will be arriving on the Japanese eShop very soon. In honor of the game coming to the Wii U’s Virtual Console in Japan, Shigesato Itoi will be conducting a livestream playthrough of the classic SNES version of the game on uStream this Friday at 8 PM Japanese time. For those of you who live outside of Japan, that would be 4 AM PST, 7 AM EST, 11 AM in the UK and 12 PM in Central Europe.

An international release of Mother 2/Earthbound is still not known as of this writing. This is quite possibly the best chance international Mother fans have of getting to talk to Itoi. Granted, you’ll need to know some Japanese. But, if you want to let him know how you feel about Earthbound not being available outside of Japan, here’s your chance!

About Kyle Emch

Kyle has been studying music at college for about three years now. He's played the piano since he was 6 years old and has been recently been learning how to write music. He has followed the Operation Rainfall movement on Facebook since it started and was happy to volunteer for the website. Just don't mention Earthbound or the Mother franchise around him.

  • If they have all the legal rights to put Mother 2 on eShop why don’t they? I would gladly pay for it, but the current situation has me emulating it for free. Just shut up and take my money Nintendo!

  • RagunaXL

i’ve stated many times before that a US release of Dragon Quest X would be the reason i buy a Wii U. If they digitally released this game in the US, I would definately buy a Wii U for that! Copies are going on ebay for around $215-$280! So I’d rather put my money into a Wii U and digital copy. The money would grant access to a larger, better (i feel), and currently growing game library.
I might check this stream out for kicks, but i don’t understand the language so there’s noway to bring this up in there.

So Itoi is going to be mid-stream while I open the chiptune showcase at PAX East. I really can’t think of more terribly-timed situations relevant to this.

    I love this game.

I am happy to see people like Ackkstudios claiming they are going to port their games to the wii u but there seem to be a lot of games on kickstarter that claim they will and then giving up when they don’t achieve some massive money drops. It saddens me because all I think about is how great the lineup of snes RPGs there were. I’m hoping someone company comes along and makes something amazing.
