Shin Megami Tensei IV

A new trailer for Shin Megami Tensei IV has been released by Atlus. In this video, we get a look at gameplay, as well as a glimpse at the story (assuming you can either understand Japanese or know someone that can translate for you).

It begins with the story. In Gregorian times, in the country of Mikado, right off the coast of Kanto, all 18-year-olds become samurai that wear special gauntlets, as in the Gauntlet Ritual from previous SMTs. Your main character is an unnamed male who fights off demons. Since this is an SMT game, you fight with a command-based battle system, then talk to any demons you wish to add to your party. And you can fuse demons to make them even stronger, as well as make your own demons.

Shin Megami Tensei IV is the fourth game in the main SMT series. It will release in Japan on May 23, 2013, for the Nintendo 3DS for ¥6,980. No localization has been announced as of yet. However, given Atlus’ history in localizing games in the franchise, we should expect to hear something about it sometime; perhaps in the Fall of this year.

Special thanks to Will Whitehurst for translating.
