Devil Survivor 2

Ghostlight has been making a lot of European fans happy, as they have been publishing multiple JRPGs in the region. Right now, they are taking pre-orders for Devil Survivor: Overclocked, a 3DS enhanced version of the original Nintendo DS classic. Yesterday, the publisher stated that they are very pleased with the amount of pre-orders. The game is set to be released in Europe on March 29th.

Ghostlight also updated on the status of the game’s sequel Devil Survivor 2 on their blog. Ghostlight’s Ross Brierley wrote:

Currently the European version of the game is finished and has been approved for release by Nintendo. However, without going into too much detail, retail support for DS titles is understandably low at the moment making it difficult for us to release the title. We haven’t given up though and we’re currently looking into several different ways of making this fantastic game available to you all. One way that I’ve heard being discussed on the Ghostlight grapevine is that we may release a Collector’s Edition of the game exclusively through our website which will mean we’d need your full support in making this release happen.

It seems as though they are having trouble releasing a physical version of the game due to the fact that many retailers simply do not support or stock many DS titles. It also seems like they are considering pulling something similar to what Gaijinworks and MonkeyPaw are doing with Class of Heroes 2 and having a special limited release online. In any case, it’s good to know that they are at least trying to bring Devil Survivor 2 to Europe.

An enhanced port of Devil Survivor 2 was recently announced for the 3DS in Japan. Will Ghostlight decide to wait and publish this version instead, or go with the original version? The publisher said that we should expect more news and updates on this over the next few weeks.
