Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

UPDATE 03/05/13- We have now included the American version of the trailer, replacing the European version. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Turtles fans, rejoice! Activision has officially announced a new title for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license, with a trailer to show it off.

Taking a close look at the trailer, there isn’t a whole lot to go on, plot-wise. Basically, crime is on the rise and the Turtles are making a name for themselves as vigilantes. It looks to be a beat ’em up-style title, which doesn’t stray too far from Turtles titles of the past. There’s no confirmation of co-op, but, with a Turtles game, not having four-player co-op would be criminal, so I’d be surprised if the feature was omitted. Perhaps the most eye-opening facet of the trailer is the visual style. While the logo definitely draws inspiration from the new Nickelodeon TV show, the visuals differ quite a bit. The Turtles have smaller eyes, actual nostrils, and tend to have a more human-like physique, meaning that this may not draw much influence from the show at all. The “PEGI 16” rating sort of equates to a “Teen” rating on the ESRB scale, meaning it could be a darker take on the Turtles.

What we do know is that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is slated for release this Summer on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC. Do you like the look of the new Turtles title? Let us know in the comments below. As a Turtles fan myself, I’m pretty stoked.
