Nintendo is providing the UK with a nice present for the start of spring in the form of the ever popular Wii Mini console.

Wii MiniReleasing on March 22nd, the Wii Mini is an extremely stripped down version of the Wii (as its name obviously suggests). The Wii Mini lacks the both the GameCube compatibility and network features of the original model Wii. In other words, its sole purpose is to play Wii games (unless said games happen to be available via the Wii Shop Channel).

The Wii Mini was previously released in Canada late last year at a cost of $99.99 CAD, and to some amount of scorn.

So, UK, how does it feel to finally arrive in the next generation of gaming?

Oh, and you don’t need to say it. As a Canadian, I’d just like to say…

You’re Welcome.

About Devin Kotani

Devin is a Canadian, and as such, plays hockey (no he doesn’t) and drinks maple syrup (not really) while riding a wild moose (he’s never seen a moose). When he’s not perpetuating cultural stereotypes, he’s playing videogames, which has been, on occasion, very bad for his mental health, problems with which have plagued him for years. Now, at 20, he’s getting his mental health issues under control, and he’s trying to decide what to do with his life. He’s currently debating between journalism and trying his hand at the dramatic arts.

I don’t know what Nintendo is thinking, this thing is not actualy worth owning outside of having one.

What is the point of this? You can get a Wii cheap these days(some for less than a £100) and why would you want to get one with less features.

  • Ryan_oprainfall

If they lowered it to about $70 I’d buy it. Would love to be able to play Xenoblade again after selling my Wii. But I can get a used one for $60 on eBay.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

and of course it would have to actually come to the US…

  • Vinicius

If they gave a copy of Pandora’s Tower with the console it would be worth the price.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

Truth. I’d buy it or sure if it came with Xenoblade in the US. Think of all that money they’d make since Xenoblade is rare.

It’s so funny how people complain about the Wii Mini. It’s like they’re being forced to buy one or something.

    • Ryan_oprainfall

You are! Nintendo Ninjas will strike you down if you don’t.
