Chris Taylor, CEO of Wildman developer Gas Powered Games
With a new future in sight, what becomes of Wildman?

You may know about the game in this article’s title from a former piece of news presented by me, when Gas Powered Games CEO Chris Taylor was asking his fans whether the Wildman Kickstarter should even continue, faced with such dire situations as to force him into massive layoffs. Despite the public response, however, it seems that the decision has been made for us all for the moment. As mentioned in our latest Crowdfunding Spotlight, on this past Monday, with only four days left in the campaign, Taylor cancelled the Wildman Kickstarter.

In his final Kickstarter update, the needs of the company seemed to give impetus to his actions with this campaign. Recently, Taylor announced that his company has been acquired by California-based developer and eSports advocate Wargaming, who currently plans to keep the Gas Powered Games offices in the Seattle area.

It seems that this purchase is looking positive for both parties, as Wargaming CEO Victor Kislyi says that “Gas Powered Games has a long track record of providing incredibly engaging AAA gaming experiences and we can’t wait to start working with them.” Taylor’s new business partner is largely responsible for making effective use of free-to-play and monetization tactics, especially in their flagship game, World of Tanks. A similarly themed title, World of Warships, is due for release later this year, with a Facebook page already active. How this will affect Taylor’s plans for the Wildman IP is anyone’s guess. However, those of us at Operation Rainfall congratulate Mr. Taylor on this venture and look forward to a new life for his company and future titles under the Gas Powered Games name.
