Spoiled by TV Guide’s website and confirmed by Toonami’s Tumblr page, the Soul Eater anime will be premiering on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim Toonami block for February 17th at 1:30 a.m. EST/PST.
In a post titled “TV GUIDE, YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE” the Toonami Tumblr post validates the addition of the Soul Eater anime in place of Samurai 7 when the show ends it’s 26 episode run.
Soul Eater is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Atsushi Okubo. It follows the story of Maka Albarn and her partner Soul Evans who also happens to be her weapon, or “Soul Eater”. Together they must hunt down and take the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 hard to capture witch, in order for Maka to graduate to death god, in the Shinigami technical school they both attend.
Soul Eater the anime is a Funimation release stateside, and the manga is published by Yen Press.
