“I am Number 14, Xion.” Yes, you are. And you’re remastered in glorious HD.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days fans, take note: there’s more than meets the eye for the game’s HD-remastered cutscenes included in the soon-to-be-released Kingdom Hearts: HD 1.5 ReMIX. A feature-length montage of 358/2 Days is one of the goodies featured in this series retrospective for the PS3.

In a Japanese press release, Square Enix revealed that not only will there be close to three hours’ worth of cutscenes from the DS game reworked in beautiful HD, but the runtime includes about one-and-a-half hours of rebuilt, previously unvoiced event scenes.

As an infomercial pitchman would say, “But wait, there’s more!” In addition to that, the original 358/2 Days‘ “Roxas’ Diary” and “Secret Reports” are intact in HD 1.5 ReMIX, as well as a new feature dubbed the “Character Encyclopedia.” This lengthy volume contains introductions to every character featured in 358/2 Days.

And if that’s not enough, fans can obtain goodies for their PS3 while watching the cutscenes. Trophy collectors will appreciate the PSN trophy support, while the most faithful 358/2 Days fans can obtain character themes for their PS3s.

In the end, Kingdom Hearts: HD 1.5 ReMIX seems to be a worthy package for Kingdom Hearts fans, especially those who have not experienced the critically acclaimed and commercially successful 358/2 Days.

Kingdom Hearts: HD 1.5 ReMIX is scheduled for a March 14, 2013 release in Japan, with a Western release apparently in the works according to voice actor Jesse McCartney. We’ll keep you posted.

About Will Whitehurst

Will joined the Operation Rainfall Campaign soon after news broke of that infamous French interview about Xenoblade. Subsequently, he got actively involved and became a staff member in July/August 2011. He is currently the head of the Japanese translation team, and loves to play, discuss, debate and learn more about games. Will gravitates towards unconventional action games and RPGs, but plays pretty much anything except Madden. He is also currently attending college, honing his Japanese skills and preparing for medical school. (Coincidentally, Trauma Center is one of his favorite game series of all time.)

  • I’ll be buying this and the Kingdom Hearts 2 HD collection whenever they come out. Just take my bloody money Squeenix.

  • MagmarFire

I was only interested in seeing if we were actually getting this.

    • Don’t get too Excited…Square also said we were getting FInal Fantasy Type-0… there word is dirt.

    • MagmarFire

This is completely different, since Square wasn’t the one who gave us this information. It was Jesse McCartney, albeit accidentally.

    • Not really accidentally. Illegally the word you’re looking for.

    • MagmarFire

Still a confirmation to me. 😀

  • They shouldn’t have half-assed this… 358/2 is easily the best game in the collection and all they are giving is the cutscenes… for shame Square.. for SHAAAAME

    • Personally, I enjoy Days, but what? Days is, objectively, easily the worst KH game ever game. Lackluster, repetitive gameplay. The story was really slow up until Day 255. The only thing is has going for it is great graphics for a DS game and the best character development in the series and the most heartbreaking death ever, which are the elements that a Theater remake will express the most.

A full remake would have taken another year, so this is really the better choice.
