This episode of The Downpour Podcast features something a little different. It’s a little longer, a little more focused, and a lot more…off the record, so to speak. Episode 6 begins the first of (hopefully many) roundtable discussions; where Jonathan and a group of Oprainfall Staff sit down to discuss a particular company, game, brand, or idea for the greater part of an episode.

A Xenoblade Roundtable is practically inevitable at this point, and we want community involvement when the time comes, so we’ll be sure to keep you posted when a recording date is solidified.

For now though, enjoy a discussion on a publisher/developer that’s sure to cause plenty of polarization among staff members and our audience alike: Square-Enix. For almost a full hour, the staff discusses everything about the company they’ve been dying to get off their chest since a few of our more popular news articles.

Prior to that, though—there’s still plenty of show to enjoy! To make listening easier, Jonathan has broken down this episode into segments below so you can tune into the various pieces that interest you, and tune out of the discussion where you know you’ll feel alienated (fans of Tetsuya Nomura and Final Fantasy XIII in particular should probably avoid the bits where they’re mentioned…).

All in all, we hope you enjoy this episode of The Downpour Podcast (and keep an open mind!), as it’s sure to be our most…interesting yet.

I’ve been enjoying this podcast as a supplement to the website. However I do have one critique to offer. As Operation Rainfall moves toward being accepted as a more professional organization, and while I have no problem with it personally, this episode in particular includes far too much unnecessary swearing. I think it really detracts from the appearance of being professional. I would recommend trying to reduce it, either at record-time or with the editing before you post it to the site.

The content is quite good though, keep up the good work.

    • Thank you so much for your feedback! Yeah, we contemplated the idea of censorship versus non-censorship. If you listen to the first two episodes of The Downpour Podcast, you’ll notice cursing was censored. But the podcast was sort of under new management with me at the helm, and I was waiting to hear stuff like this from our audience while determining matters like these.

Now that we’ve received feedback like yours pretty consistently, I may have folks tone it down a little bit, or have our editor be more vigilant in censoring folks.

What is the song playing at the beggining of the episode? It’s very familiar but i just cant remember where i listened to it..

Looking forward to the Xenoblade roundtable! Congratulations on the good work!

    • It’s from Soma Bringer, “The Bonds That Return to the Sky”.

  • GREAT PODCAST GUYS (and Girl)!

I forgot to post feedback on podcast 5 (sorry D:) so I hope it’s okay if I post some here:

Firstly: I love the music you play during the podcast. I’m a guy who can get behind a game’s soundtrack, so keep the awesome tracks coming!
Secondly: I really like the ordered discussion brought in on this podcast, and MEGATHANKS for the timetable thingy above 😀
Thridly: I don’t really mind the swearing, or an occasional off-topic conversation (I like hearing how much everyone HATES Justin Beiber, hehe)
Fourthly: Um, er I can’t really think of anything else really…

Keep up the great work! (^_^) Oh and I’m superexcited for the Xenoblade roundtable!
