Demon's Souls

As with most Atlus titles, Demon’s Souls was released with an extremely limited amount of quantity, with the Limited Edition actually being “Limited.” The game would slowly but surely gain quite a notoriety with the press and, of course, gamers across the Western region. With the surprising success that came with the title, Atlus then went on to print up more copies. The “Greastest Hits” red label re-release was released, which came bundled with the game’s soundtrack. Ever since then, Atlus made several announcements of the game’s servers eventually having to be turned off — only for the Souls community to come back strong and show that the game still had revenue and gain to be made. So Atlus, in turn, abides and extends the life of the game’s online portion; que in a lot of happy fans.

So with Demon’s Souls being such a massive success, it was only a matter of time before Atlus would want this prestigious game to be available digitally. The time has come at last! Atlus has announced that on the 8th of next week, the game will be offered on the PlayStation Network for $19.99. To celebrate new comers to the game, Atlus will be holding holding a Pure White World Tendency online event from January 8th to 14th. With White World Tendency, the game becomes a lot easier, with enemies and bosses not doing as much damage and enemies are more prone to drop healing grass — but at the cost of having a worse drop rate for rare item drops. There are exclusive events that only occur in Pure White World Tendency in each of the 5 areas in the game, which gives you access to some very useful equipment.

The World Tendency mechanic is one of the more love or hated aspects with Demon’s Souls that was left out entirely in Dark Souls. With very little info given in-game, it became quite infamous, as many gamers had to find out the hard way that dying in Human Form can reduce world tendency to go towards Black World Tendency — which makes item drop rates better, but at the cost of the game getting a bit more difficult. Enemies get more health, you do less damage, and enemies doing a lot more damage. The only way to increase the World Tendency naturally is to defeat each of the bosses offline or on that particular server online.
