Ah Mega Man. The name has become synonymous for the fuel of internet rage for many; the poor Blue Bomber seems to never catch a break. Whether it has to do with cancelled games, misuse in cross-over games, or even what appears to be a lack of respect when it comes to his own anniversary; see the poor reception Mega Man Xover got with many long time fans when it was first announced. The demo didn’t help matters and it got so bad that those die-hard enthusiasts recreated the game in less then 24 hours just to spite Capcom in an attempt to show how poor it is; that is some dedication!

Well this may or may not calm those fans down as the November issue of Nintendo Power contained an interview with Capcom’s Senior Vice President, Christian Svensson and Community Manager Brett Elston which had an interesting tidbit:

Nintendo Power: What does the future hold for Mega Man?

Christian Svensson: I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years. That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details.

So is this finally Mega Man’s salvation? Well actions speak louder then words and after all this drama,  I personally need to see it to believe it. Though I might actually give them the benefit of the doubt this time, as they have shown improvement with releases like Dragon’s Dogma, localization announcements for both Monster Hunter 3G and Ace Attorney 5, as well as publishing the new IP Remember Me. There is some room for improvement; personally I’d rather have Ex Troopers and not Lost Planet 3, but I digress. Hopefully Capcom truly means what they’re saying and something amazing comes about from this. What do you all think?

We aren’t confirming or denying anything, this is all that Capcom USA has to say about the matter so who knows if something will occur.
