Shin Megami Tensei Imagine

Oddly enough, Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE seems to have flown over the heads of many JRPG fans, despite the fact that it is a Free-to-play MMORPG based on Atlus’ SMT franchise of ever-growing popularity.  Sure, it may not have the mammoth worlds and content of more popular games from the same genre.  However, it does deliver a simple yet fun experience in the MegaTen World where you not only can befriend demons but also strengthen your social links with REAL people.  IMAGINE is the kind of game you can, and should, play for small periods of time each day (unless you’re the kind of person who loves hours of grinding), whilst still being able to reap the social benefits present in every MMO.  The game may not be a “WoW killer”, but Atlus Online is still determined to bring new content to their faithful user base; veterans and new-comers alike.  Also, did I mention it’s free?

Today’s update has brought a neat little feature – namely daily missions – which will definitively add incentive to return each day.  These short missions will make it easier and less “grindy” to gain experience, especially if you bring a party of friends with you as this will increase the amount of experience points gained (so rev up those social links!).

As Shin Megami Tensei IMAGINE is a free-to-play MMORPG, a cash shop is inevitable. But if you really love the game, and feel like supporting the developer, what better way to do so than to slap some tats on your face?  The face avatar “Sharp Thanatos” has been added to the “DCO Shop.”  And, other than making you look like the main character from SMT3: Nocturne, these digital face ornaments will up your attack significantly.  Also, your demon companion’s Limit Break damage will be increase, which is bound to make it happy in a digital, not real sort of way.

Note: These updates apply to the Japanese version of the game. If they have yet to be released in the English version, you will likely be seeing them in an update in the near future.

If you haven’t played this game yet, why don’t you head over and register on the game’s website? It is free after all, and might sate your Shin Megami Tensei hunger until Persona 4 Golden and SMT 5 are released.
