Aside from our final attempt at convincing Nintendo to release Pandora’s Tower in North America, the big news for this week was of the announcement of the final installment of Final Fantasy XIII. In honor of this occasion, the Operation Rainfall Retro Commercial Research Team (in other words, me) was tasked to dig up some commercials for Final Fantasy VII for this week’s Retro Wrap-Up. Yes, the game that not only popularized the JRPG, but the game that Square Enix desperately wants to compare Final Fantasy XIII to.

Here are some of the other highlights from this week.

Charlotte argued why The World Ends With You should get a sequel. I argued why it shouldn’t.

Jonathan Higgins took an acid trip through Pulseman in this week’s Games of the Past Review.

Clinton Nix reviewed Tales of Graces f in time for its European release, Jeff Neuenschwander reviews Infinite Game Works, and David Fernandes reviews Way of the Samurai 4.

Metal Gear, No More Heroes, and Persona 4 all get social games on GREE.

La-Mulana comes to WiiWare this September. Gamers around the world rejoiced.

Phoenix Wright is coming to the iOS in HD. I’ve got no objections to that.

Finally, Nintendo of Japan announces reveals quite a few new projects for the 3DS, including a new Professor Layton game, a sequel to Friend Collection, a sequel to Denpa Ningen no RPG, and a new game by the makers of Pokemon called HarmoKnight. Oh, and they tease something related to Monster Hunter.

EDIT: Here’s one last Final Fantasy commercial for you. I think you’ll agree that it’s quite possibly the best Final Fantasy commercial ever made by man.
